Do not judge this car by the 912 as many things have changed since its arrival in the US in 1968.
When we purchased it we did so knowing that the previous owner had made some subtle changes.
The first being an engine and transmission swap. Presently the car is powered by a 2.5 liter
(short stroked 2.7) with Weber carburetors and a 901 transmission. Other changes have included
a coat of paint changing its color from the original orange to the black you see now. A fiberglass
duck tail had been added as well as a considerable amount of 911S trim to give the illusion that the
car is no longer a 912. In fact the only way we could tell that it was a 912 when we purchased it
(aside from the owner telling us) was a closer look at the engine mounts and a VIN check.
